The FIRST Revelations LiveJournal Community!
What did you think? Exciting, I thought it was awesome :D It's going to be a hit, I know it. Thoughts, opinions? Bill Pullman is awesome.|
This is my main question, my main problem with the show, and if anyone has any ideas, please share!
In the first episode, Sister Josepha tells Dr. Massey that all the signs are in place. What is she referring to when she says "signs"?
Under the section labeled 'The Signs' on this site, NBC lists the cross on the mountain, the baby at sea, the 'delog' (the brain-dead girl), and 'He Who Does Not Bleed' (the Satanic cult leader now in prison).
I can't connect any of those with any of the signs of the apocalypse of church tradition or pop culture.
Apparently Dr. Massey is also supposed to be a figure of the prophecy since his symbol is the deer, which the delog drew--but Sister J doesn't seem familiar with this symbol.
What ARE those symbols on the map, for that matter? "symbols from galileo's time"? A little more explanation, please, NBC! How did Sister J. use that vague thing to find Dr. Massey in his office, on the universtiy campus, in a certain city, in a certain state, etc...? How did she know his name when she asked for him if all she had to find what she sought was this map??
There's nothing more disappointing that a potentially good story that fails to live up to its potential because of missed opportunities and plot holes large enough to drive a truck through. *sigh*
Montifiore works for a group that believes the second coming of the Messiah is at hand. She is on a mission to find Jesus and protect him so that he can rise and have the final confrontation with Satan.
"All the signs and symbols set forth in the Bible are in place for the end of days," she tells Massey.
Montifiore believes the prophesies within the New Testament book of Revelations are coming true. The world is falling apart. Wars dominate every corner of the globe, plagues and pestilence kill the innocent, and natural disasters occur frequently. Montifiore finds an image of the crucifixion appearing on a mountainside at midday -- and then there is the young girl in a coma.
A Florida girl is struck by lightning and left in a vegetative state. Doctors declare she is brain dead. But while a priest administers the last rites, she suddenly begins speaking in Latin. She quotes passages from Revelations and draws a map that leads Montifiore to Massey.
Montifiore and Massey fight to save the girl, at least until they can understand what message she needs to deliver. Massey remains a skeptic, and questions Montifiore's motivation in this mission.
"You are making a living off this, are you not?" he asks her. "Or are you just delusional?"
Massey also wonders if Montifiore is motivated by her sister, who committed suicide while in a religious cult.
Answered more in depth on the other community.
The mystery deepens when a baby is the only survivor from a ferry accident in the Adriatic Sea. Massey and Montifiore head to Greece to find the baby, hoping he might be the reborn Jesus. Instead they find a path of destruction in the baby's wake, leading them to question whether the baby is the son of God or Satan's spawn. Massey also will have to deal with his own adversary, the evil Haden.
"Your God has deserted you," Haden gloats. "The evidence abounds."
I actually liked it. Good piece of fiction and yes, Pullman is the man. At first I wasn't into it but later on, it grew on me. One episode so far but hell(haha), I'm hooked.
I missed the first episode...does anyone know where I can download it?
I dunno but if you watch Bravo TV they do re-runs of it.
